I’ve added some exciting new kit to my collection, including the Canon 1DC and iFootage Carbon fibre jib.
Most exciting is the new Canon 1DC which now shoots 25p 4K internally. I picked this up on Friday and shot The Foodies Festival in Brighton with it. The detail is simply incredible compared to my 5Dii and to be able to walk around and shoot 4K, Super 35, 1080p & 1080p 50fps all with one camera was fantastic (video of the festival coming soon).
I also picked up a new travel jib from a company called iFootage. I was hesitant at first due to the relatively low price and the fact that everyone (including Philip Bloom) has been raving about the Kessler pocket jib traveller, but I was so impressed with this incredibly lightweight jib. We used it for a few shots at the Foodies festival and I’ll post a review of it (with the shots) soon.
Finally, I picked up an Edelkrone Slider plus XL. This was great for the festival as it allowed us to get up close to the food, without taking up too much space. We were able to get lovely smooth slider shots, while still being very discrete and only needing one relatively lightweight tripod. Again, a review and examples shots will be posted soon.
The Canon 1DC is available to hire now from www.1dchire.co.uk while the slider and jib will be available for hire soon. Also available are plenty of 1000x compact flash cards which are a necessity for 4K filming.
I'm busy working on my blog posts. Watch this space!
