Canon 1DC filming at the Foodies Festival, Brighton
Here is the promo video we shot and edited for the Foodies Festival in Brighton. It was all shot on the Canon 1DC and 5Diii, and we utilised the iFootage travel jib, Edelkrone Slider plus XL and Dynamic Perception Stage Zero dolly slider.
Canon 1DC now shoots 4K in 25p
The Canon 1DC is capable of shooting 4K at 25p internally, as well as 1080p 25/50fps, and S35, and we utilised all 4 of these camera settings during filming. I was probably, and surprisingly, most impressed with the 1080p 50fps. I’d heard it was upscaled and soft, but I found it to be native 1080 and sharp, especially when compared to the 5Diii.
The iFootage Carbon Fibre jib was extremely lightweight and portable and we achieved some fantastic crane shots with it, which can be seen in the video. For the price, I can’t see this jib being beaten, although I’d be interested to see how it compares to the Kessler pocket jib traveler.
The Edelkorne Slider Plus XL could have been smoother, but it did allow us to get up close to the food, which the Dynamic Perception Stage Zero just wouldn’t allow due to it’s size. I’m still undecided about the Edelkrone slider – I want to love it, but it just doesn’t run as smoothly as the Kessler Stealth or even the Stage Zero. More testing is required I think.
Canon 1DC available for hire now
My Canon 1DC has the updated 25p 4K firmware and I’ve teamed up with the guys at www.superduck.tv to make the 1DC available for hire. As well as the Canon 1DC, we aslo have multiple 1000x 128GB CF cards available, which is essential if you want to shoot 4K.
